Meet the Board
Born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Roland joined the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in 1982 as a Vehicle Technician, served 20 years, and was medically released in 2002 with PTSD & chronic pain.
He has spent the past 16 years volunteering in various roles and advocating on behalf of veterans: for better Healthcare and VAC Benefits, all while providing direct Peer Support to Canadian veterans across Canada and abroad. He founded VMMCS in 2015
Bio
A proud Newfoundlander, Karen joined the Navy in 1993 starting in the reserves as a Naval Combat Information Operator (NCI OP) with the Reserve Unit Cabot in St. John’s, NL. She moved to Halifax and joined the Regular Forces in 1996 in the same trade, serving 9 years in the Navy until her medical release in 2002.
As the Manager of Strategic Growth at Eastlink, Peter helps VMMCS advance our business objectives. With his knowledge and experience as a former government Strategic Initiatives Analyst and political staffer, Peter knows the ins and outs of working with the government. Peter lives in Dartmouth with his wife and son, where he enjoys the outdoors, scouting, and family game night!
Ian spent nearly 12 years in the Canadian Armed Forces where he excelled in research and analytical writing. He currently works as a Marketing Consultant where he helps businesses and non profits reach their target audiences. He has a Master of Public Administration from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Psychology from Saint Mary’s University.
Clarence started his military career at the age of 17 when he joined the artillery reserves in Yarmouth, NS. After two years, he went to reg force in the Army Communications trade (Rad Op), where he served for 16 ½ years with several postings across Canada.

Leanne was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and began her career with the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in 2001, enrolling as a Resource Management Support Clerk. Motivated by a deep commitment to helping others, she dedicated herself to providing exceptional administrative and financial support throughout her service. After 25 years of distinguished service, she is scheduled to medically release from the CAF in 2026.
